On December 29, 2025, Meta Platforms announced its acquisition of Chinese artificial intelligence startup Manus, signaling its accelerated push to integrate advanced AI across its platforms.
Meta, like other tech giants, has been aggressively investing in AI through strategic acquisitions and talent recruitment. Earlier this year, Meta invested in Scale AI, a data-labeling startup valued at $29 billion, bringing in its CEO, 28-year-old Alexandr Wang.
Financial details of the Manus deal were not disclosed. Singapore-based Manus develops general-purpose AI agents capable of functioning as digital employees, executing tasks such as research and automation independently with minimal prompts.
